Strait of Hormuz Update: Oman and Iran agreed, now the passage of ships will be safe, America’s blockade will be removed soon

Oman and Iran have jointly decided that the route for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will be kept safe and open. This big decision has been taken after a new agreement between America and Iran. With this, trade and movement of ships through sea will become easier again.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke over phone on June 16, 2026. During this, both the ministers talked about following international laws so that the movement of ships can take place without any hindrance.

In this matter, US President Donald Trump informed on social media platform X that the deal with Iran has been completed. He has ordered that the blockade imposed by the US Navy should be removed immediately and this route should be opened without any toll.

The agreement will be signed in Switzerland

Iranian officials said that the papers of this agreement will be formally signed on June 19, 2026 in Geneva city of Switzerland. This peace agreement is being called ‘Islamabad Declaration’. It is expected that this sea route will be completely opened within 30 days of the signing.

In the coming time, Oman and Iran will jointly take responsibility for the functioning and management of this route. Both the countries will together decide how ships will operate here in the future.

However, big shipping companies like MOL and CMA CGM have still called for caution. These companies say that they will not start normal operations until there is complete assurance of safety there.

Let us tell you that this important sea route was closed after the air strikes on Iran by America and Israel on 28 February 2026.
