New Delhi: Student activist Devendra Nath Mahato, who was protesting against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand's recruitment examinations, got into a scuffle with policemen at Ranchi's Sadar Hospital on Saturday. Let us tell you, Mahato alleges that when he wanted to come out of the hospital to join the Tiranga Yatra organized at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium on Independence Day, the police stopped him. During this time there was a scuffle, due to which he suffered a chest injury.
Hunger strike going on since August 2
Actually, Mahato is on hunger strike since August 2. On the other hand, their ongoing movement against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations has now reached its 23rd day. After his health deteriorated, he was admitted to Sadar Hospital in Ranchi on 10 August. He is associated with Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JKLM).

Mahato raised the question on what basis is he being stopped from going to the stadium. He said that if the doctors have forbidden him to go out of the hospital, he should be shown the written order. He warned that if stopped without written order, he would file an FIR against the people concerned.

He claimed that he got injured on his chest in the scuffle with the police and is currently undergoing treatment and medical examination. He also said that due to his hunger strike for a long time, his health is not good and he is having chest pain even while speaking.

He said that under the pressure of the movement, an inquiry committee has been formed and the government is showing a positive attitude towards their demands, but the students have not yet got complete justice. Their movement is going on against the alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations of Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. Mahato has appealed to the protesting students and candidates to remain united.
