Nanded, Read: Regarding the attack on former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nanded, Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to his wife and MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal over phone and inquired about his health. After the incident, Maharashtra government has also taken the matter seriously and ordered investigation.
Attack with sharp weapon in Gurudwara
According to the police, Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked with a sharp weapon by a person named Jaspal Singh at Gurudwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. Inspector Santosh Kendre was also injured while trying to save them during the attack. Both of their hands have been injured. Both the injured have been admitted to Yasho Sai Hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
Attacker arrested, was serving in Gurudwara for two years
Maharashtra Home Minister Yogesh Kadam said that the attacker has been arrested. According to him, the accused was working as a volunteer in the Gurudwara for the last two years. He told that the accused had attacked with a sharp weapon. A policeman was also injured while trying to stop the attack. Police have started legal action against the accused.
PM Modi talked to Harsimrat Kaur
After receiving information about the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Harsimrat Kaur Badal on phone on Thursday. During this, he inquired about the health of Sukhbir Singh Badal. At the same time, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also talked to Harsimrat Kaur Badal over phone to know about the well-being of Sukhbir Badal. He assured that the culprits of the attack will not be spared at any cost and strict legal action will be taken against them.
Shinde and Fadnavis took update from police
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directly contacted the Superintendent of Police of Nanded and got information about the incident. He directed the police to thoroughly investigate the attack, look into any security lapses and take strict action against all those involved in the incident. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also took information about the incident from Nanded SP and directed the police to find out the motive behind the attack.
Security arrangements increased
After the incident, security arrangements have been tightened in Nanded. The matter is being investigated under the supervision of police officers. Police are trying to find out the reason for the attack and the motive of the accused.
