The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, criticized the BJP on November 1 over its proposed foot march in Shimla amid the INDIA bloc’s rally in Delhi, while emphasizing that the Wildflower Hall hotel would generate approximately Rs 1,000 crore for the state over 20 years.
Addressing the media in Shimla, Sukhu defended his government’s management of public assets, stating that the state had engaged in legal battles to protect valuable properties and ensure their revenue benefitted the government.
Referring to Wildflower Hall, the Chief Minister said the property is expected to contribute around Rs 37 crore annually to Himachal Pradesh, amounting to an estimated Rs 1,000 crore over the next two decades.
He explained that the state government had pursued legal proceedings to safeguard its interests and assure proper management of public properties. Wildflower Hall, associated with East India Hotels Ltd (EIH), is part of an arrangement to secure revenue for the state.
Sukhu affirmed the government’s commitment to managing public properties in a manner that generates revenue to support development and welfare programs.
He also highlighted the government’s adherence to democratic principles based on the Constitution framed under BR Ambedkar’s leadership, affirming ongoing development across various sectors.
The Chief Minister criticized the BJP’s proposed foot march in Shimla, held as a response to the INDIA bloc rally in Delhi, which includes participation from Himachal Pradesh Congress leaders and workers. Sukhu described the BJP’s political strategy critically while defending the Congress government’s dedication to democratic values and public welfare.
He reaffirmed that despite political opposition, the government remains focused on development and the welfare of the people. Sukhu stated that efforts to protect the state’s financial interests in the Wildflower Hall property ensured that it would contribute substantially to state revenue.
The government continues to advocate for managing public assets through transparent, public-sector mechanisms to ensure financial returns. Sukhu concluded by declaring the government’s intention to strengthen the state economy and utilize public resources for the benefit of its citizens.
