There was a stir in the area when the body of 24-year-old Sunny Yadav was found in a well near the bus stand in Sadar police station area of Chatra district of Jharkhand. The family members of the deceased have accused his friends of conspiring to commit murder and throw the body in the well. Police have taken the body into their custody and sent it to Chatra Sadar Hospital for post-mortem and the matter is being investigated.
The deceased has been identified as Sunny Yadav and his age was 24 years. He lived in ward number 22 Kishanpur locality of Chatra city. He is survived by his parents and two sisters.
According to family members, Sunny had left home on Wednesday afternoon. While leaving the house, he had asked to come back soon. However, after that he did not return home. At around 8 pm, family members called on his mobile but could not be contacted.
After nightfall, on Thursday morning the villagers informed the family that Sunny’s body was lying in the well. As soon as the information was received, the family members reached the spot. After the news of the dead body being found in the well spread rapidly in the area, people reached the spot.
After the incident, the family refused to accept the incident as an ordinary accident and suspected Sunny’s friends of murder. According to his allegations, Sunny was murdered as part of a conspiracy and his body was thrown into a well. However, the allegation has not been confirmed until the police investigation is completed and the post-mortem report is received.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and took out the body from the well. After completing the necessary legal procedures, the body was sent to the said hospital for post-mortem.
Police are investigating how Sunny reached the well and the circumstances under which he died. When did Sunny leave the house, who was with him, with whom was he last in contact, what was the last location of his mobile phone and whether he himself reached the well or someone took the body there, this can also be investigated. Police have not yet released detailed information on these issues.
The post mortem report is considered important to clarify the cause of death. If there are injury marks on the body or it is found that death occurred due to something other than drowning, the direction of the investigation may change. Even if no such thing is found in the post-mortem, the police will continue to investigate based on the incident site and circumstances.
The police will also investigate the allegations made by family members against friends. The crime of any person cannot be proved merely on the allegations of the family. The police will have to collect evidence to support the allegations. Evidence like mobile call details, location, crime scene condition, statements of eyewitnesses and postmortem report can be important in the investigation. If the role of any person comes to light in the investigation, the police can take legal action against him.
After the incident, anger spread among the family members. Initially the family members were not ready for the autopsy. After this, police officer ASI Dukhi Ram Mahato explained to the family members and persuaded them to complete the legal process. After this the body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
The police have assured the family members of investigating the matter and taking action against the culprits. According to the police, further action will be taken after the written application from the family and the post mortem report is received.
Due to this incident an old incident in the family has come to the fore again. According to reports, about six months ago Sunny’s uncle also died under suspicious circumstances. Before the family could fully recover from the incident, Sunny died.
The family is in shock after two deaths in the same family within a few months. Now the family is waiting for the real reason behind Sunny’s death to be revealed. They demand a fair investigation into Sunny’s death and if the investigation finds that she was murdered, action will be taken against those responsible.
According to the police, the matter will be investigated thoroughly. Further action will be taken after the written application of the family and the post mortem report is received. At present, it is important for the police to find out the real reason for Sunny’s death. Only then will it become clear whether the incident was the result of an accident, suicide or some criminal incident.
After Sunny’s body was sent for post-mortem, the family is waiting for the report. Based on the report the police will proceed with the investigation. If the report confirms the suspicion of murder then the police can intensify the search and investigation of the accused. If any other reason is confirmed then legal action will be taken accordingly.
At present, in this case of Chatra, the main points of investigation are the body of a 24-year-old youth who had left his house found in a well the next day, the family accusing his friends of murder and the second suspicious death in the family within six months.
