New Delhi:Mayor Pravesh Wahi suddenly turned to the kitchen on Monday regarding the quality and cleanliness of the mid-day meal provided to the children studying in Delhi Municipal Corporation schools. The Mayor, who reached the Maitreyi Mid Day Meal Kitchen located in Pooth village, made a surprise inspection without any prior notice and took stock of the entire arrangement from the preparation of food to its quality.
Tested the cleanliness and quality of food items in the kitchen
During inspection, cleanliness arrangements in the kitchen premises were found to be good. The Mayor closely examined the adherence to hygiene standards and the quality of food items by the food preparation staff. The food items used in the kitchen were found to be in accordance with the prescribed standards and necessary safety standards were also found to be followed.
The mayor inspected the curry, rice and whole vegetables.
The Mayor inspected the curry-rice being prepared for the morning shift schools and the puri-sabzi being prepared for the evening shift. He tasted the curry and rice and expressed satisfaction over the quality of the food. He said that the kitchens providing mid-day meals to corporation schools are as clean and equipped as five-star hotels. The Mayor said that under PM Poshan Abhiyan, food items and financial assistance are being provided to the cooks on time. He clarified that mid-day meal plays an important role in the all-round development of children and there will be no compromise on the quality of food.
