Suzuki Jimny 2026— Suzuki Motors has further strengthened its identity in the Malaysian automobile market by launching two new variants of its popular off-roader SUV Suzuki Jimny. The company has launched Jimny Allgrip Plus and Jimny Rhino Plus in the market. Both these models come in 3-door configuration. In Malaysia, both these variants are being imported directly from Japan as a completely built unit (CBU), which is why their prices there are much higher than in the Indian market due to local taxes.

Full math of prices: More than double the amount compared to India

Keeping in mind the new safety norms in Malaysia, the prices of these two models have been kept quite premium. Its official prices and their estimated values in Indian currency as per the variants are as follows:

  • Jimny Allgrip Plus: Its starting price has been fixed at RM 158,900 (approximately Rs 37.28 lakh).
  • Jimny Rhino Plus: This slightly more rugged looking version has been priced at RM 173,900 (approximately Rs 40.80 lakh).

While the ex-showroom price of the 5-door version of Maruti Suzuki Jimny in India starts from around Rs 12.74 lakh, due to the tax structure in Malaysia, customers have to spend around Rs 37 to 41 lakh even for the 3-door model.

What’s new in Allgrip Plus? Focus on safety and technology

The new Jimny Allgrip Plus variant launched in the Malaysian market will actually be the new base model of the lineup there. It will replace the existing ‘Jimny Allgrip Pro’. The old model will be sold at dealerships only till the stock lasts. With this change, the company has made the biggest upgrade in its security.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has now been included in this variant, under which safety features like Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention and Weaving Alert will be available. Apart from this, now a reversing camera along with millimeter-wave radar has also been added to this vehicle, which makes parking in tight spaces extremely easy.

Statement from automotive experts

“Demand for the Jimny has always been strong in global markets. The addition of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and six airbags as standard in Malaysia is a big step forward from Suzuki in improving safety standards, although going through the CBU route puts the price a bit above the common man’s budget.”

No change in engine and performance

Even though Suzuki has upgraded its features and cosmetic look, there will be no mechanical changes under the hood. Both variants have the same reliable K15B 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

This engine generates power of 102 PS and torque of 130 Nm. For power transmission, it is paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. For off-roading enthusiasts, it gets Suzuki’s traditional ‘AllGrip Pro’ part-time 4WD system, which comes with 2H, 4H and 4L modes via a manual transfer case. For better riding, this vehicle rests on ladder-frame chassis and three-link rigid axle suspension.
