Tara Sutaria Set To Make Cannes Film Festival Debut Before ‘Toxic’ Release
Mumbai: Ahead of the release of ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups’, actor Tara Sutaria is set to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
The 79th edition of the prestigious festival will be held from May 12 to May 23, and, as every year, it is expected to see a strong presence of Indian film personalities walking the red carpet.
“Ahead of Toxic, Tara Sutaria is set to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, representing India on a global stage,” a source was quoted as saying by HT.
The source added, “With Toxic generating buzz, the Cannes debut is expected to spark the beginning of a global phase for Tara’s career.”
Several Indian celebrities are set to attend the Cannes Film Festival this year, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Payal Kapadia. Notably, Kapadia has been named jury president for the 65th edition of Cannes Critics’ Week, which will run from May 13 to 21.
Meanwhile, ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’, penned by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, stars Yash in the lead along with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.
At the time, Geetu Mohandas shared a note on social media, expressing her instinctive urge to “shield” Tara.
Geetu expressed, “I’ve always felt a natural affection to safeguard Tara. Maybe it’s because she has a reserved spirit or perhaps it’s the protective shell she finds comfort in. And maybe it doesn’t need to be labelled.”
She remarked, “She absorbed more than she articulated. She listened more than she disclosed. I often pondered if I should guide her more closely. Yet in her quietness, something profound was developing. When she finally embraced her role, what unfolded was nothing less than stunning, stemming from an inner awareness she had all along. She completely astonished me, in the most wonderful way. I am certain she will amaze everyone else as well. @tarasutaria I cherish you.”
A few days ago, it was announced that ‘Toxic’ has been delayed once again and will no longer release in theatres on June 4 as originally planned.
Yash confirmed that although the film is complete, the team is currently focused on securing global distribution deals and finalising key strategic partnerships.
He added that the move is aimed at helping the film reach its “fullest potential worldwide.”
The project was earlier slated for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, where it was set to clash with Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’, directed by Aditya Dhar.
