Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal of public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in Prahaar has impressed film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who praised the actor for bringing authenticity and intensity to the real-life figure.
Adarsh highlighted Rajkummar’s controlled performance, pointing to his body language, dialogue delivery and courtroom scenes as key strengths.
Sharing his assessment, Adarsh lauded the actor’s ability to disappear into the character rather than simply imitate him.
“Rajkummar Rao is undoubtedly one of the finest actors we have today, and with Prahaar, he once again reminds us why. His portrayal of Ujjwal Nikam is remarkable. From his body language and dialogue delivery to the intensity he brings to the courtroom sequences, Rajkummar gets the nuances right. What stands out is that you don’t see Rajkummar Rao playing Ujjwal Nikam, you see Ujjwal Nikam on screen. It’s a terrific performance and another reminder of the range and calibre of this actor,” Adarsh said.
With Prahaar, Rajkummar takes on another role based on a real person, following his portrayal of industrialist Srikanth Bolla in Srikanth. The film recently won the National Film Award for Best Hindi Feature Film.
The actor is also preparing to portray former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in the upcoming biopic Dada. These projects see him explore personalities from different fields, each requiring a distinct approach to performance.
In Prahaar, his portrayal of Nikam places particular emphasis on the prosecutor’s courtroom demeanour and mannerisms. Adarsh’s praise draws attention to the details that shape the performance and the actor’s effort to make the character convincing on screen.
Rajkummar’s latest role further adds to his body of work portraying real-life personalities, with Prahaar bringing the public prosecutor’s story to the big screen.
