Petrol, diesel and electric cars of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (TMPV) will become costlier from September 1, 2026. According to the company, the price will be increased by a maximum of ₹ 25,000 depending on the model and variant.

The company has cited rising costs and inflationary pressure as the main reasons behind this decision. Tata Motors’ portfolio includes models ranging from the entry-level Tiago to Safari, Harrier and electric vehicle Harrier EV. In such a situation, customers buying these cars from September may have to pay higher prices than before.

The new price will be applicable from September 1

Tata Motors said that the new prices will be effective from September 1, 2026. This will impact all major passenger vehicle segments of the company. However, the price hike will not be the same on every model and variant. The prices of petrol and diesel cars as well as electric vehicles will also be revised. This means that customers of both the company’s ICE and EV ranges will have to face increased prices from September.

According to the company, it is still bearing a major part of the rising costs. But in view of the continuous pressure of cost and inflation, it has become necessary to pass on some additional burden to the customers.

Why are the prices of Tata cars increasing?

For automobile companies, changes in raw materials, production, logistics and other operating costs have a direct impact on vehicle prices. Tata Motors has also blamed rising costs and inflation for the price increase this time. The company says that the new price revision is being done to partially balance the impact of increasing costs. However, the actual price increase will depend on the individual models and their variants.

Prices will increase for the third time in this financial year

The special thing is that this will be the third increase in the prices of passenger vehicles of Tata Motors this financial year. That means since April till now the company has revised the prices thrice. In April 2026, Tata Motors had increased the prices of petrol and diesel-powered passenger cars by an average of about 0.5 percent. At that time the company had cited rising input costs as the main reason for increasing the prices.

After this, in July 2026, the company had announced an increase of up to 1.5 percent in the prices of petrol, diesel and electric passenger vehicles. Now prices are going to increase once again in September. In this way, customers will have to face price revision for the third time in a period of about five months.
