Tata Motors sting in ‘Lucknow’! Completed the milestone of production of 1 million commercial vehicles in a journey of 35 years!
Tata Motors has achieved the historic milestone of producing 1 million commercial vehicles at its Lucknow plant in Uttar Pradesh. On this occasion, the company celebrated its 35 years of industrial journey and contribution to the economic and skill development of the state. Notably, the 10 lakhth vehicle produced in this phase is a zero-emission electric bus, symbolizing Tata Motors’ move towards eco-friendly mobility.
The event was graced by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Tata Motors MD and CEO Girish Wagh. The 10 lakhth vehicle was flagged off by dignitaries.

Appreciating the achievement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Production of one million vehicles at the Lucknow plant is a proud moment for the state. It highlights the strength of Uttar Pradesh’s industrial potential and skilled manpower.” He also mentioned the importance of the role of industry in the goal of making the state a trillion dollar economy.
Established in 1992, the plant has today become one of the major manufacturing hubs of Tata Motors. Spread over an area of nearly 600 acres, the center manufactures trucks, buses as well as electric and fuel-cell vehicles. With an annual production capacity of more than one lakh vehicles, the vehicles manufactured by this plant are also sent for export along with domestic consumption.

The plant has provided employment to more than 8,000 families and is promoting skill development of local youth through various training activities. Interestingly, the plant runs on 100% renewable energy and being water-positive also contributes greatly to environmental protection.
Tata Sons Chairman N. “Our partnership with Uttar Pradesh is a great example of industrial progress and social development,” Chandrasekaran said. Overall, this phase is considered to be important towards Tata Motors’ sustainable and future-oriented dynamics.
