A video from Bihar recently went viral, showing a Tata Sierra standing in the middle of the road, with a broken front axle. It claimed that the axle broke while the SUV was travelling at a speed of 50 kmph and further attributed the same to an alleged ‘manufacturing defect’. Now, Cars With KC in Telugu, a YouTube channel has put out a video explaining what really happened in this case. The creator says that it wasn’t a manufacturing defect that caused the axle to break. This Sierra was hit by a truck, eventually causing its front axle to bend and break.
The YouTuber starts his video by explaining the context. He says that the viral video is from Bihar and even places those visuals as an overlay on his video. In them, we can see a Sierra with ‘BR’ registration plates standing still in the middle of a highway. We see its left side and front end and instantly notice the broken wheel assembly. At first, the rest of its body looks unscathed.
However, this YouTuber gives us more visuals of the damaged Sierra. They show that the right side has taken impact-induced damages. Talking about the same, the YouTuber says that the SUV was hit by a truck while it was trying to overtake it on the highway. This, in fact, led to the wheel assembly getting damaged.
The YouTuber claims that he talked to the vehicle owner and the dealership that is currently doing the repairs on it, and has verified the reality of the incident. According to him, the SUV was trying to overtake a heavy truck on the highway when it lost control and hit the truck. The left side of the truck hit the right side of the Sierra. The left side of the truck hit the right front fender near the wheel.
Notable deformation can be seen on the fender. A portion of the impact was transferred to the front axle. The load of this impact landed on the left wheel assembly, effectively bending and breaking the axle. The reported speed of the car- 50 kph, may have also played a role in the impact being this severe.
As the video went viral, Tata Motors showed up in the comments section, from their official handle, and stated that its team has already reached out to the owner of the vehicle and the vehicle would soon be examined in detail. This YouTuber’s video seems to have come out after these inspections.
The creator goes on to say that people from the scene blamed the truck driver for hitting the car. He claims this to be false, and says that the Sierra driver admitted that it was his fault and not the truck driver’s. In short, this Sierra did not suffer from a manufacturing defect.
It in fact, kept the occupants safe even in the event of the crash. Tata Motors is known for offering impeccable safety and crashworthiness on their products. The Sierra, launched in November 2025, is no exception. It has scored a five-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests.

The new Sierra’s launch marked the revival of an iconic nameplate. It has a modern design and an upright stance. Clean lines, smooth surfacing, clamshell tailgate, LED lighting, large panoramic rear glass windows, and the list of design highlights goes on.
The cabin is well-designed and tech-laden. The Sierra comes with features like triple screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12-speaker JBL Black audio, HUD (Head Up Display), panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, rear sunshades, powered tailgate and more.
The Sierra is underpinned by Tata’s new-age ARGOS platform and comes with three engine options- 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (that runs on Atkinson cycle), 1.5-litre turbocharged Hyperion petrol engine, and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both manual and automatic transmissions are available on the naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines while the turbo-petrol comes just with an automatic transmission.
