Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out: The Indian team has suffered a major setback ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka. India’s superstar fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the series. This is bad news for both the Indian team and its fans. Jasprit Bumrah is the world’s No. 1 Test bowler and a vital cog in the Indian bowling attack. According to media reports, Jasprit Bumrah has not yet regained full fitness. Consequently, the team management and medical staff have advised him not to participate in the Test series. Bumrah is a key part of the Indian team for next year’s ODI World Cup. Therefore, the team management is reluctant to take any risks with him.
How did Bumrah get injured?
According to a Times of India report, Jasprit Bumrah continues to suffer from discomfort in his left knee. After the initial test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE), Bumrah has been advised to rest. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn’t want to rush into any decisions regarding Jasprit Bumrah, which could significantly impact his fitness. Bumrah suffered an injury in the second ODI of the England tour, which prevented him from playing in the final ODI. When the BCCI announced the Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour, it stated that Bumrah’s participation would be determined based on his fitness.
Who will replace Bumrah?
India is scheduled to play the Asian Games in September, followed by a tour of New Zealand. Next year, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played, and finally, the 2027 World Cup. The team management wants to keep Bumrah fully fit for these major tournaments. The big question now is who will replace him if Bumrah misses the Test series against Sri Lanka. Currently, the Board has the option of a young player like Aaqib Nabi Dar as a replacement for Bumrah. Furthermore, the team already has Mohammed Siraj, Gurnur Brar, and Prasidh Krishna in its squad.
