Indian women's cricket team won the Asia Cup on Sunday. After this victory, Mohsin Naqvi is once again in the news. The Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan's Home Minister and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi. Now Indian women's cricket team coach Amol Majumdar has said that this decision was of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team supported it. Earlier in 2025, the Indian men's team had similarly refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, after which he left with the trophy.
In this match, the Indian team led by Harmanpreet Kaur defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs and won the Asia Cup title for a record eighth time. However, Indian players did not come to the field for the prize distribution ceremony after the title win. The reason for this was that Mohsin Naqvi wanted to give the trophy with his own hands but the Indian team was not ready for this. In the end, Mohsin Naqvi left the place after giving the award to Sri Lankan captain Chamri Atapattu. However, he did not take the trophy with him this time.

On the question of Mohsin Naqvi not taking the trophy, Amol Majumdar has said, 'This decision was of BCCI and we supported it. For us this tournament is over and we are champions. This is enough for us. We are united. I am proud of every member of this team, sports staff and players.
Let us tell you that last year the Indian men's team had also refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy and medal from Mohsin Naqvi. Mohsin Naqvi is also the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The Indian team is yet to receive the Asia Cup trophy, which was later kept in the ACC office. Last year, the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team celebrated on the stage without the trophy. This time, even after BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia gave the best fielder medal to Nandini Sharma, the players of the Indian women's team did not return to the field for the award distribution ceremony.

While there, the Sri Lankan team accepted the runners-up check from Mohsin Naqvi. Earlier, Sri Lanka Cricket's interim chief Eran Wickramaratne presented medals to the team's players and support staff.
