The first phase of census will start in Delhi from today, employees will reach door to door in MCD areas, will ask 33 questions.

Housing survey work is going to start from Saturday under the first phase of the census process in the capital Delhi. This survey will be conducted in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) area. More than 50 thousand employees have been deployed in 12 districts of Delhi for this campaign. During the survey, information related to houses, buildings and basic facilities will be collected by the employees. During the survey, employees will go door-to-door and ask 33 questions included in the housing survey form and record their information. It includes questions related to house, family, basic amenities and other essential details.

According to officials, the information given by those who have already filled their housing survey online will be verified. For this, the concerned people will have to show the ID received after submitting the online form to the survey staff. The process of housing survey has started in Delhi from 16th April. According to the official, in the first phase the survey was conducted in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment area, which falls under New Delhi district. Housing survey work has been completed in both these areas.

Action may be taken if you do not cooperate

According to a senior official associated with the census, if a person refuses to give information in the survey, then efforts will be made to convince him first. The officer said that despite repeated explanations, if a person does not participate in the census, action can be taken against him under Section 11 of the Census Act 1948. Under this provision, a fine of up to Rs 1000 can be imposed. Apart from this, if the person is found guilty, there is also a provision for legal action against him and a punishment of up to 3 years.

1.34 lakh people took part in the self-counting.

The ongoing houselisting phase under Census-2027 in Delhi was completed on Friday. According to officials, 1.34 lakh people submitted online census details during the self-enumeration drive in 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Officials said there are around 30 to 32 lakh houses in MCD areas. To smoothly complete the census work, the wards have been divided into about 46 thousand houselisting blocks. Each block contains approximately 180 to 200 houses.

According to an official engaged in census work, citizens can see the identity cards and appointment letters of census workers and observers to verify their identity. Apart from this, the authenticity of the identity cards can also be checked by scanning the QR code printed on them. Officials also said that the self-enumeration and houselisting phase has already been completed in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantt areas.

Census self-enumeration campaign completed

A large number of people participated online in the self-enumeration campaign of Census-2027 which was conducted from May 1 to 15 in Delhi. According to officials, a total of 1,54,127 people attempted self-counting during this period. In Delhi Municipal Corporation areas, except New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantt, 1,32,840 people successfully completed the process by filling their census information online. According to the data, South-West district remained at the forefront in cases of self-enumeration, where 26,475 people attempted self-enumeration. After this, 26,155 cases were recorded in North-West district and 24,027 cases in North-East district.

At the same time, the least number of self-counting cases were reported in Old Delhi district at 811. Apart from this, 1,155 people in Outer-North district and 3,505 people in Central-North district started the process of self-counting. South-West district also topped the figures of complete self-enumeration, where 23,163 people completed the process. 22,661 people in North-West district and 20,762 people in North-East district successfully completed the self-census. In contrast, Old Delhi recorded the lowest number of complete self-counts at 659. Outer-North recorded 1,053 cases and Central-North recorded 3,193 complete self-count cases.
