Founded by Royal Charter in 1829 as the junior department of the university King’s College London, King’s College School Wimbledon is among the U.K.’s long-established independent schools.
The school was listed among the world’s top five high schools in the HSBC Hurun Education Global High Schools 2025 ranking. It was also ranked among the leading independent day schools in the U.K. by The Sunday Times Parent Power 2026 guide.
According to the school, more than 98% of GCSE and IGCSE grades at A+ (9-7) and more than 96% of A Level results achieving A+/A/B or IB equivalent, including over half at A+ or IB level 7.
The school said around 99% of students are admitted to universities worldwide each year, and more than a quarter securing places at Oxford, Cambridge, and Ivy League institutions.
Anne Cotton, Head of King’s College School Wimbledon and Honorary Principal of King’s College Wimbledon Ho Chi Minh City, said the school’s educational approach combines academic development with personal growth.
“Rooted in a long-standing tradition, the school’s education is shaped by curiosity, creativity, compassion, and a strong sense of community,” she said. “We encourage students to develop independent thinking, understand themselves, and gradually build their own paths.”
The school said its educational philosophy, described through the concepts “The world beyond” and “Life at 25,” is intended to prepare students for university, professional careers, and broader international contexts.
In addition to academics, the school operates a Personal Enrichment Program aimed at developing students’ experiences, social skills, and adaptability.
