IMD Weather Update August 4: Monsoon has once again gained full momentum across large parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for moderate to heavy rainfall in several states across India today, August 4. According to the latest weather update, not only will there be torrential rain during the next 24 hours, but strong winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour are also expected.
Red alert in Assam and Sikkim
Rain is now wreaking havoc in Northeast India. The Meteorological Department has issued a “red alert” for Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Sikkim. The situation is particularly dire in Assam, where floods have already affected more than 50,000 people and forced thousands to flee their homes.
How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR?
Relief from the humid heat is expected in the capital Delhi and surrounding areas. A “yellow alert” for rain has been issued for Delhi from August 4th to 6th. Today, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 32 degrees Celsius, and light to moderate rain is possible by evening.
What will be the weather like in UP?
In Uttar Pradesh, heavy rainfall is expected in both western and eastern parts between August 4 and 8. Several districts in Uttar Pradesh are also under alert for thunderstorms and strong winds, which will cause temperatures to drop.
How will the weather be in Bihar?
Monsoon conditions are also active in Bihar, where isolated heavy rainfall is expected on August 4. In addition, winds up to 50 kilometers per hour are also expected in the state.

How will the weather be in the hilly states?
Landslide warning in Himachal and Uttarakhand: Rainfall has once again brought risks to the hill states. Several districts in Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Nainital, and Chamoli, are at risk of flash floods and landslides. Heavy rains will continue in Himachal Pradesh until August 9th. The Meteorological Department has advised tourists and locals to stay away from rivers, streams, and sensitive areas.
