When Brazil’s Ronaldo Nazario, popularly known as the real Ronaldo, won the last of his five World Cups for his country, America’s President George Bush and Australia’s Lleyton Hewitt were number one in the men’s tennis rankings.
It took a long time for these three great men to retire from their fields, many others took their place, but from 2002 till now, there has been a list where three great men remained steadfast, now that list has also changed.
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic out
For the first time since 2002, the names of the Big Three i.e. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will not be in the top-ten of men’s tennis rankings. 39-year-old Djokovic has slipped from fifth place to 12th in the rankings released on Monday.
This is the first time this has happened since October 2002. Federer has retired in the year 2022 and Nadal in 2024 but Djokovic remained in the top ten continuously. Another interesting thing is that Lleyton Hewitt’s 17-year-old son Cruz Hewitt is progressing very fast in professional tennis.
