Continuous cases of mismanagement are coming to light in the Asian Games 2026 to be held in Japan. The Indian rowing team that reached Nagoya had to wander here and there for 14 hours. After a long wait the players got the room. Now the Indian shooting team has raised questions on the arrangements. A senior coach who arrived in Japan with India's 30-member shooting contingent said that the arrangements are not as per the image of the host country.
There are no hotels near the shooting range. In such a situation, it is taking a long time to transport the shooters to and from the practice and competition venue. The Indian shooters are staying in different hotels 50 kilometers away from the range. There are many medal contenders in the shooting team like double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, Asian Games medalist Aisha Singh, who have to travel a long distance to reach the range.

'Better arrangements could have been made'
The coach, who has participated as a player in several editions of the Asiad and Commonwealth Games, told news agency PTI, 'Traffic is a big problem but what can we do. There is no hotel near the shooting range. If it had happened, we would have reached earlier. They have given us a hotel very far away.
He said that he has raised this issue with the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) but has not personally discussed it with the officials recently. The coach said, 'I believe that NRAI must have discussed this with the organizers of the Asian Games. I have not spoken to the association but have informed about this issue.
The coach also said that long travel is nothing new for shooters, as the ranges are often far from the city. He said, 'Even in China (2022 Hangzhou Asian Games), it took an hour to reach the range but Japan is Japan. So we are disappointed with the settlement. it could be better.'

Even the buses are not running on time
The buses taking the shooters to the range also arrived late. Indian shooters stay in three-four hotels and gather for breakfast at a hotel from where they have to take a bus. A bus was to leave at 8.40, which left after 9.00. Another bus was scheduled to leave at 9:40, which left at 10:30.
