There will be a big jump in the prices of gold: The price of 10 grams can reach Rs 1.68 lakh, know till when the prices will increase.

Delhi. If you are planning to buy gold, then the burden on your pocket may increase further in the coming days. The price of gold in the domestic market is expected to increase to Rs 1.60 lakh to Rs 1.68 lakh per 10 grams in the next 6 to 12 months. The continuously increasing demand for investment and purchase of gold by central banks around the world is being considered as the main reason for this. This estimate regarding gold prices has been made in the latest report of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited (MOFSL).

Gold will shine in international market also

According to MOFSL's quarterly bullion report, the price of gold in the international market may reach $ 4,500 to 4,700 an ounce in the medium term. At the same time, in the short term, the price of gold in the domestic market is expected to be around Rs 1.48 lakh per 10 grams. The report said that amid investment demand, central bank purchases and global economic uncertainties, gold is being seen as a safe investment option. This is the reason why there is a possibility of further rise in prices.

Big fluctuations seen in gold and silver prices in 2026

Last year, there was a great rise in gold, but in 2026, there was a lot of fluctuation in the prices of precious metals. A possible increase in US interest rates, inflation, higher bond yields and global developments influenced the market movements. The price of gold in the international market reached a record level of around $ 5,600 per ounce in January 2026. After this the prices fell and the price went below $ 4,000 an ounce. However, later improvement was also seen in the market. Similarly, after crossing $100 an ounce, the price of silver came down rapidly. Fluctuations in the exchange rate of rupee and dollar also affected the prices of gold and silver in the domestic market.

Gold price increased five times in a decade

There has been a tremendous increase in the prices of gold in the domestic market during the last decade. According to the report, in the year 2016 around Diwali, gold was around Rs 30 thousand per 10 grams, which will increase to around Rs 1.5 lakh in 2026. This reflects the huge increase in gold prices over the last ten years.

Buying gold before Diwali is more beneficial

Historical trends are also mentioned in the report. According to this, gold has generally given better returns in the 30 days before Diwali compared to the 30 days after Diwali. At the same time, during the festive season, the domestic prices of gold are affected by the international market as well as the volume of domestic premium, imports and physical purchases.

Global conditions will decide the next move of gold

According to Navneet Damani, Head of Commodity Research, MOFSL, gold continues to retain its importance as a safe investment amid global economic and geopolitical uncertainties. However, the direction of gold prices in the coming period will depend on factors such as the monetary policy of the US Federal Reserve, inflation trends, movement of the US dollar and real bond yields. Overall, according to the report, gold prices may rise again in the coming 6 to 12 months. However, these are market estimates and actual prices may fluctuate as per global conditions.
