New Delhi/Lucknow, Read: The bank union on Sunday postponed its three-day nationwide strike after receiving assurance from the Indian Banks Association (IBA) on its demands, including implementation of a five-day working week.
The strike, which began on Monday, was called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). This strike was taking place at the time of half yearly accounting of the banking sector. After the strike is postponed, banks will work normally on Monday.
“A high-level committee of IBA and UFBU will be immediately constituted to discuss the issue of declaring the remaining Saturdays as holiday,” UFBU said in a statement. This committee will consider all possible options, discuss with all stakeholders and try to find a solution that is acceptable to all stakeholders, especially customers.
The statement said that talks can be initiated with IBA regarding the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for officers of scale-four and above. It has been said that under this, a proposal for change in the plan can be placed before the government to remove the objections of unions and associations. The statement said that in view of the assurance, UFBU agreed to postpone the proposed agitation and strike.
