Balasore, 27 September 2026: Three youths narrowly escaped death while making a 'reel' in the flood waters of Balasore district of Odisha. On Sunday, while recording a video in a submerged area, these three youths were trapped in the strong current of water, however, they were later rescued safely.
This incident took place in Tentulimundi area of Olandasaranga Panchayat under Balasore Sadar Block. The flood waters were flowing very fast on the road. It is learned that despite the flow of water being very strong, three youths had come down to the submerged road to make a 'reel' (video).
According to eyewitnesses, the youth were making videos amid the water on the road. Suddenly the flow of water increased and all three were thrown into it. The current dragged him far away, but he managed to save his life by holding on to a tree.
Due to the strong current of water, all three youths were trapped and could not reach their destination safely. As soon as information about this incident was received, fire service personnel and ODRAF team reached the spot and started rescue operations.
After much effort, the rescue team reached the trapped youth and pulled them out safely. There is no report of any loss of life in this incident.
The administration has appealed to the public to avoid entering fast-flowing water during floods and not to go on submerged roads, as the depth of water and intensity of flow can change suddenly at will.
