Delhi Slap Case: PWD Minister Pravesh Verma has been accused of slapping a person after the controversy over the poor quality of roads in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on BJP and Pravesh Verma regarding this incident. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has condemned the incident and demanded the minister's dismissal and an apology from the public.
Controversy regarding the quality of the road
The matter is of Sunday, when Delhi Government's PWD Minister Pravesh Verma had come to inspect the recently constructed road in Tilak Nagar area. Meanwhile, a person named Saheb Singh raised questions about the poor quality of the road.
It is alleged that during this time there was an argument between the two and Pravesh Verma slapped Saheb Singh. There was an uproar on the spot after the incident. Pravesh Verma, in his defense, said that the person concerned had started abusing his family and he reacted in anger.
Kejriwal raised questions on road quality
On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal reached Vikaspuri and raised questions about the quality of the road. He claimed that the road was recently built, but it could only be uprooted by hand.
Kejriwal alleged that there was corruption in road construction. He said that there was a provision of five years guarantee for the roads built during his tenure.
Demand for dismissal of Pravesh Verma
Kejriwal demanded dismissal of Pravesh Verma and apology from the public over the slapping incident. He said the minister should be dismissed and action should be taken against those responsible for corruption in road construction.
AAP demanded FIR in the police station
AAP leader and Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj said that he along with party workers reached Vikaspuri police station and demanded registration of FIR against Pravesh Verma. He said that the party is trying to initiate legal action in the matter.
