While Tilak Varma is best known by his exciting work at the boundaries in white-ball cricket, the left-hander has quietly put together one of the best first-class records in contemporary Indian red-ball cricket. Since his debut for Hyderabad in the 2018–19 domestic season, he has compiled a First-Class record that is absolutely ridiculous, showing his composure at the crease and the ability to make the most of the start.
The Duleep Trophy 2026 Tilak Varma's Masterclass
Varma's record in long-form cricket was on display in the 2026 Duleep Trophy, where he guided his South Zone team to two thrilling victories as an important member of the batting line-up.
Semi-final match against the North Zone: He scored an unbeaten 116 in the first innings and followed it up with a patient 51 in the second.
The final at Chepauk against the East Zone saw him score a gritty 99 from 211 balls at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. He remained not out, despite falling agonizingly short of a well-deserved century by a single run, in a knock that saw him post his third consecutive 50+ score in the tournament.
