TMC Crisis Post Assembly Election: After losing the assembly elections in West Bengal, there is a stampede in Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress. After the split in the party’s legislative and parliamentary parties, workers in the organization are continuously resigning. Now bad news has come out for the party from North 24 Parganas district. Bad news of the party has also come from Naihati Municipality located in North 24 Parganas district. Municipality Chairman Ashok Chatterjee submitted his resignation to the party through email on Saturday night.
Resignations started coming from rural areas
Similarly, Arun Kumar Ghosh, a party leader based in Barrackpore area of the district and head of Shiuli Gram Panchayat, has resigned from his post and party membership along with seven of his supporters. This further weakened the party’s position in the district. All these members reached the BDO office of Barrackpur Block-2 and submitted their resignations. Party leader Arun Ghosh said that this decision has been taken in respect of the people’s mandate in the assembly elections.
‘Decision taken in respect of the mandate’
There are 30 seats in Shiuli Gram Panchayat. At present, there are only 29 members out of these. 24 members are from Trinamool Congress and 3 members are from BJP. Apart from this, there are 2 members of Left Front. After the announcement of resignation of 8 TMC members including Pradhan on Sunday, there has been a big change in the situation of the Panchayat.
Regarding the resignation, former chief Arun Kumar, while talking to the media, said that the people of the area voted against TMC in the assembly elections, hence, respecting the mandate, we decided to resign voluntarily. During the conversation itself, he also indicated that more Trinamool Congress members may also resign.
