Today Weather IMD Storm Rain Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning for a large part of the country. According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, today i.e. on June 12, 2026, the havoc of nature can be seen in 15 states of the country including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Within the next 10 hours, torrential rains along with a destructive storm with a speed of 90 kilometers per hour are expected in these states. Meteorologists say that a cyclonic circulation is active over Southern Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Northern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal, due to which this sudden change in weather has occurred.

Warning of heavy rain in Delhi-NCR

Friday is going to be a very challenging day for the country’s capital Delhi and surrounding areas (NCR). The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy rain and storm in Delhi. During this period, strong winds can blow at a speed of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour in the city. Talking about the temperature, the maximum temperature in Delhi today is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 27 degrees Celsius.

Hail alert in many districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

In Uttar Pradesh, the maximum impact of weather will be seen in the western and central areas. More than two dozen districts of the state, including Meerut, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur, have been warned of heavy rain, lightning and large hail. There is a possibility of winds blowing at a speed of 80 km/hour in UP.

The situation in Bihar also remains critical. There is an alert of moderate to heavy rain and storm in many districts including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur. The wind speed in Bihar can range from 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in Patna can reach 37 degrees Celsius today.

Condition of hill states and Jharkhand-Rajasthan

Tourists visiting hilly states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been advised to take special precautions. There is a possibility of storm and hailstorm at a speed of 60 km/hour in these states. A warning of storm and heavy rain with a speed of 65 km/hr has also been issued in areas like Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dumka of Jharkhand. Dust storm and rain are expected in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer of Rajasthan.

Amidst this serious warning, the Meteorological Department has asked the general public, farmers and fishermen to exercise special caution. It has been advised to avoid going to densely forested areas during the storm as winds with a speed of 90 km can uproot huge trees. Apart from this, there is a fear of loss of life and property due to lightning in the eastern states, hence an appeal has been made to stay in safe places during lightning.
