The pace of monsoon has once again increased across the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of severe weather in many parts of the country on August 16. Torrential rains along with strong winds at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour have been predicted in 12 states of the country including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar during the next few hours. According to meteorologists, cyclonic circulation of upper air is active over north-west Uttar Pradesh and south-west Rajasthan, while the weather pattern in eastern and central India has also deteriorated due to the formation of a low pressure area in the plains of West Bengal.
In fact, due to this changed weather system, there is a serious possibility of strong storm, lightning and hailstorm in many areas of North and Eastern India. Heavy rains in the hilly states—Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir—have increased the risk of landslides, prompting authorities to advise tourists and local residents to avoid unnecessary travel. There is a fear of trees and poles falling in forests and rural areas due to stormy winds, in view of which instructions have been issued to farmers and fishermen to stay in safe places.
How will the weather be tomorrow in Delhi, UP and Bihar?
Strong winds and heavy rains with cloud cover are expected in the national capital Delhi on August 16. Winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour in the capital, where the maximum temperature is likely to be 34 degrees and minimum 28 degrees Celsius.
The weather is going to deteriorate in both western and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Stormy winds can blow at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour in dozens of districts including Meerut, Agra, Kanpur, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Deoria. The maximum temperature in Lucknow can be recorded at 31 degrees and minimum at 27 degrees Celsius.
Monsoon is fully active in Bihar. There is an alert of torrential rain with gale speed of 60 to 65 km per hour in districts like Patna, Gaya, West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur. There is a danger of damage to crops and life and property due to being hit by lightning.
Landslide alert on mountains, Central and Eastern India will also get wet
Heavy rain with winds of up to 50 kmph is expected in Nainital, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Chamoli and Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand. The temperature in Dehradun will remain at 28 degrees. Strong gale with speed up to 55 kmph is likely in Kullu, Kangra, Solan and Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh, where minimum temperature in Manali may drop to 11 degrees Celsius. Strong winds with a speed of 70 km per hour are expected in Poonch, Kupwara, Udhampur and Shopian of Jammu and Kashmir.
An alert of heavy rain with gale speed of 55 km per hour has been issued in Bhopal, Indore, Damoh, Rajgarh and Vidisha of Madhya Pradesh. The maximum temperature of Bhopal is expected to be only 26 degrees Celsius. There will be showers with strong winds in Kota, Churu, Alwar and Jaipur of Rajasthan. Rain along with stormy winds can affect life in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad of Jharkhand and Kolkata, Darjeeling, Malda of West Bengal.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the general public not to take shelter under trees, dilapidated buildings or electric poles during bad weather and strong storms and to keep a constant eye on the warnings of the local administration.
