MILWAUKEE — Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested in Wisconsin on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped Romo while he was driving south on Interstate 43 on Thursday.

According to the agency’s arrest report, Romo performed poorly during field sobriety tests. Authorities subsequently took him into custody.

Court Appearance Scheduled for September

Sheriff’s officials said Romo was booked and released following the arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 21.

Romo previously held the team record for career passing yards with 34,183. Current Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott surpassed that total during the 2025 season.
