Actually, recently the government has made some changes in the rules of Lok Adalat. The change is that the government has included a new formula of 50-45 in the rules of Lok Adalat. This will provide some ease for those paying challan.
Now you cannot directly approach Lok Adalat. To get the challan waived off or to get relief, now you will have to empty your pockets first to even get relief.
50 percent money will have to be paid first
According to the new rules of traffic challan, to settle the challan or get it waived, now you will have to deposit 50 percent of the amount i.e. half of your total challan in advance before going directly to the Lok Adalat. Only after doing this you can approach the Lok Adalat. Unless you make this half payment, your case will remain pending in the Lok Adalat and no hearing will be held on it. You can pay this 50 percent amount by visiting the official portal of the state government.
Time will remain only for 45 days
Under the rules of traffic challan, you are given only 45 days to get the challan waived. If you do not pay half the fine or challan amount within these 45 days, then your case will not be heard in the Lok Adalat.
