In a recent case, a passenger was traveling by Rajdhani Express. He had a valid ticket, but the age recorded on the ticket was different from that written in the identity card. During booking, 1 year was entered by mistake instead of actual age. When the TTE noticed this difference at the time of investigation, as per the railway rules, it collected an additional fee of about Rs 7,000 from the passenger.

Indian Railways rules clearly state that the information like name, age and gender recorded on the ticket should match with the valid identity card of the passenger. While making the ticket, fill the name spelling, age, gender and all other details carefully. Enter the same information which is written in your Aadhar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card or any other valid identity card. Before making payment, read the entire ticket carefully, so that any typing mistake can be corrected in time.
