Trump’s big claim regarding Iran, ‘Netanyahu will do only what I want’

New Delhi: US President Trump has once again given a big statement amidst the ongoing tension regarding Iran. He said that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will take only the steps that he wants from him. Trump made this comment when he was asked a question about possible military action on Iran and Israel’s role.

Trump praised Netanyahu

While talking to journalists, Trump openly praised Netanyahu. He said that Netanyahu is a strong and experienced leader and has led even during wartime. Trump also said that the Israeli Prime Minister will proceed according to his suggestions and strategy.

The US President also defended Netanyahu amid criticism over corruption allegations in Israel. Trump claimed that Netanyahu is not being treated fairly in Israel. He even jokingly said that maybe he himself would go to Israel and contest the election for the post of Prime Minister. Trump laughingly said that according to a survey, his popularity has reached 99 percent in Israel.

Despite rising tensions in the Middle East, Trump said he is in no rush for war or diplomacy. He claimed that the ongoing conflict with Iran may end soon, but America wants to give a chance to talks for the time being. Trump said he would prefer a diplomatic solution rather than see large-scale deaths.

He also revealed that the recently proposed US military attack on Iran was stopped at the last moment. According to Trump, the allies of the Gulf countries had appealed to Washington to give diplomacy another chance before starting the war. For this reason the action was postponed at the last moment.

On the other hand, Iran has accused America of preparing new attacks. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards warned that if military action is taken against Iran again, the response will not be limited to the Middle East only. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also claimed that America is preparing a new attack behind the scenes.

Why did Mohsin Naqvi reach Tehran?

Meanwhile, Pakistan has also intensified its mediation efforts. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached Tehran, where he held talks with Iranian officials. It is being told that Pakistan is trying to maintain backchannel contact between America and Iran.

According to sources, Iran has sent a new proposal to America, which includes demands like lifting of sanctions, return of seized assets and withdrawal of American troops from the region. However, the Trump administration has already rejected these conditions. In such a situation, now the eyes of the whole world are fixed on whether diplomacy succeeds in the coming days or the tension in the Middle East increases further.
