Lucknow: All 10 MPs have been elected unopposed to the UP Rajya Sabha. This was announced after scrutiny of papers and withdrawal of nominations. 8 Rajya Sabha MPs from BJP and 2 from SP were elected unopposed. The elected members of the BJP include Minister of State Dharampal Singh, party's OBC Morcha chief Prakash Pal, Shruti Gangwar, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Radhakant Ojha, Gopi Krishna Pandey and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan. Senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav and Reliance Industries executive Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani were elected from SP's side.

In the scrutiny of nomination papers, due to rejection of papers of two independent candidates and no one withdrawing till the last date of withdrawal of nomination, exactly 10 valid candidates remained for 10 seats. Due to this, there was no need for voting scheduled on October 16.

Newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Pal said that I have been taking responsibility of various responsibilities of the party for the last 36 years. Now I will work in the House to raise the problems of the people of the state and the country. Today BJP has won 8 out of 10 seats and this trend of results will continue till the assembly elections. BJP will win 80 percent seats and INDI alliance will win 20 percent.
