Undertrial absconding from Delhi hospital arrested within 48 hours, had disappeared on the pretext of illness; caught from Himachal

The Central Range team of Delhi Crime Branch arrested the undertrial prisoner who escaped from the hospital from Una district of Himachal Pradesh within just 48 hours. The accused has been identified as 26-year-old Pawan Bhalla. According to the police, he made himself ill by deliberately swallowing an unknown substance in Rohini Central Jail, after which he was first referred to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and then to GB Pant Hospital for better treatment.

Ran through the ventilation hole on the pretext of going to the bathroom

At around 6:45 pm on June 26, Pawan asked for permission to go to the bathroom. During this time, he succeeded in escaping by using the ventilation hole of the hospital bathroom. After the incident, IP Estate police station registered a case under section 262 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and started investigation.

Success achieved through technical surveillance and intelligence

A special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Mahipal Singh and under the supervision of ACP Satendra Mohan to search for the accused. The team proceeded with the investigation based on technical surveillance, human intelligence and continuous field operations. Finally, on June 28, Pawan Bhalla was arrested from Jitpur Behari area of ​​Una district of Himachal Pradesh.

Reached Una by taking train from Old Delhi

During interrogation, the accused told that after escaping from the hospital, he directly reached Old Delhi Railway Station and went to Una by train. There he took shelter in the house of an old acquaintance and, in order to hide his identity, started working as a loading-unloader in a warehouse, so that he could meet his daily expenses.

There are three criminal cases registered earlier also

Pawan Bhalla is a resident of Jind district of Haryana. He was arrested with a banned button knife on June 15 while patrolling near Lal Flats in Rohini Sector-4. According to the police, he has been active in criminal activities since the year 2023 and three cases are already registered against him. During interrogation, he also admitted to being addicted to drugs.
