There was a dispute during worship in Shambhupur village of Ahraula police station area of Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday evening, after which an incident of firing came to light. Three people including the wife of the accused died in the incident. Two Pandits who had come to the house to perform puja are also included in the dead. After the incident, the accused was locked inside the house with his children. Police reached the spot and surrounded the house. Efforts were started to bring the accused out through conversation.
Bullet fired after dispute during puja
According to initial information, puja was going on in the house of accused Arvind Singh since Monday. Arvind returned home from the market at around six o'clock on Tuesday evening. Seeing the puja at home, he asked questions and answers to the pundits present there. During this time, there was a dispute regarding asking for Aadhar card from the Pandits. It is being said that when the altercation escalated, the accused allegedly opened fire with weapons kept in the house. His wife Babita Singh and two Pandits who had come to perform the puja died due to bullet injuries. The deceased Pandits have been identified as Mahendra Pathak and Akhilesh Mishra. However, all the information including the full reason behind the incident will be revealed only after investigation.
Accused locked in house with children
After the firing, the accused went inside the house with his children and locked himself in a room. According to initial information, three children of the accused were present in the house. It has come to light that a daughter, a son and a baby girl of about seven months were included in these. Information has been received that the elderly mother of the accused was also present in the house at the time of the incident. After receiving information that the accused had a licensed weapon, the police started taking action with utmost caution. The priority of the police is to safely take out the children present inside the house and to take the accused into custody without causing any further harm.
Heavy police force deployed in the village
As soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officers and forces from several police stations reached the spot. Police have surrounded the incident site. The forensic team has also reached the spot and is busy collecting evidence. Efforts are being made by the officers to talk to the accused and convince him to surrender. At present the police is investigating the entire matter. The real reason behind the firing, use of weapon and other facts related to the incident will be known only after the investigation is completed.
