UP Police Begin Destroying Tyres Of Traffic Rule Breakers With Sharp Device: Viral Video

Finding a driver or rider violating traffic rules on public roads is actually not that hard in India. State police and other departments often come up with new ideas to curb such violations. Apart from routine inspections, they have even installed cameras for surveillance in various places. We have now come across a video from Uttar Pradesh where a cop is seen using an aggressive policing tactic against rule-breakers. He is seen puncturing the tyre of a vehicle using a sharp tool.

The video has been shared by Rahul Saini on his X profile. In this video, we see a Uttar Pradesh cop in front of a two-wheeler rider. The exact location of the incident is Vrindavan in Mathura. The rider was stopped by the cop for a traffic violation. We see that there were three people, including the rider, on the bike, and that is probably the reason why he was stopped. We see the biker trying to negotiate and talk to the cop on the busy road.

The officer is seen talking to the rider while holding a sharp tool in his hand. We see the rider trying to plead with the cop not to damage or puncture the tyre. However, the cop does not stop and does it anyway. He pokes the bike’s tyre with the tool in his hand multiple times. It is pretty clear that the intention of the cop here was to damage the tyre of the bike and teach the rider a lesson.

The video has gone viral on the internet, and as in any such case, the public or netizens are divided. While there are people who think that this was a good way to ensure that the public does not repeat the mistake, most are actually against this aggressive policing tactic. Many are criticising the officer for damaging the vehicle.

The comment section is filled with remarks asking the department to take action against the officer for his behaviour. It should be noted that the sharp tool the officer is holding does not look like a department-issued tool. Many people are criticising the department and saying that cops would only behave this way with poor people and that if it were someone in a car, the officer’s response would have been different.

We went through the comments and found that Mathura Police has also come across the incident. They have asked the local police station to look into the matter, conduct an investigation, take appropriate action and submit a report.

The two-wheeler rider in this video was absolutely at fault. He was riding the bike with three people on it, and only the rider was wearing a helmet. Two-wheelers are designed to carry two people, but in India, people often ignore this and ride with more passengers, increasing the risk of accidents.

While we admit that the biker was at fault, we cannot support the officer’s reaction. He should have ideally stopped the bike, issued a challan or, in the worst case, asked the traffic police department to seize the vehicle. Instead, he decided to damage the vehicle. If the owner wishes to do so, they could potentially take legal action against the officer for damaging their property.
