Just before the departure of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh, the weather is ready to show its fierce form once again. Issuing a fresh bulletin, the Lucknow center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a serious warning of rapid worsening of weather during the next 48 hours in many parts of the state. Due to the combined effect of the cyclonic circulation formed in the Bay of Bengal and the activity of western disturbance in North India, the movement of dense clouds has intensified in the entire state. According to the Meteorological Department, on October 7 and 8, there is a danger of torrential rain with thunder and lightning, strong storm with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and lightning (thunderstorm) in all the districts of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of hailstorm along with strong winds in many areas, due to which the administration and disaster management teams have been put on high alert. How will be the weather condition in Lucknow, Kanpur and Awadh region? Clouds have started gathering in the capital Lucknow and its surrounding districts – Sitapur, Barabanki, Unnao, Hardoi and Kanpur since late Tuesday night. According to meteorologists, there will be dense dark clouds in the sky in Lucknow on October 7 and 8 and several rounds of heavy thunder-shower rain can be recorded. During this period, gusty winds of 40 to 50 km per hour are expected, which will cause the temperature to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius and provide relief from the humid heat. However, due to strong storm and rain, there is a possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas of Lucknow, breaking of trees and disruption of power supply. Traffic is also likely to be affected due to heavy rains in the industrial areas of Kanpur city and Kanpur Dehat. Highest danger in the districts of Eastern UP, alert of lightning and hailstorm. According to the regional data of the Meteorological Department, the most acute impact of this seasonal change will be seen in the districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts in Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Basti, Bahraich, Gonda and Deoria. In these districts, due to the collision of heavy clouds locally, there is a strong possibility of lightning accompanied by loud noise and hailstorm at some places. Heavy rains have affected crops in the past from Azamgarh to Sultanpur, and now intermittent heavy rains are expected to continue in the region till October 8. In the coastal areas and lowland areas of rivers, District Magistrates have been instructed to monitor the water level 24 hours and activate flood posts. Showers with strong winds in Western UP and Rohilkhand Weather conditions are not going to remain calm in the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh and Rohilkhand. There will be scattered to moderate rain in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly and Pilibhit from the night of 6 October to 9 October. Due to the effect of Western Disturbance, there may be dust storm and winds blowing at a speed of 45 km per hour in this area. Due to strong winds, drivers plying on open fields, highways and expressways (Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway) have been advised to limit speed and use fog lights when visibility is low. Municipal corporations have been put on alert to maintain the drainage system in the lower urban areas of Moradabad and Bareilly. Increased concern of farmers, crisis on paddy and pulses crops. This sudden change in weather has become a cause of great concern for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. At present, the late paddy crop is on the verge of ripening in the fields across the state, while harvesting work has started at many places. Along with this, there is a possibility of huge loss to the crops of sesame, urad, moong and sugarcane due to strong storm and waterlogging. Agricultural experts have advised farmers not to allow water to stagnate in the fields and to make proper arrangements for drainage. Instead of leaving the harvested crop under the open sky, keep it in safe places or covered with tarpaulin. Due to strong winds, there is the highest risk of the standing crop falling (lodging), due to which there is a risk of the grains turning black and the yield decreasing. Necessary safety advisory to avoid thunderstorms and lightning The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the Meteorological Department have appealed to the common citizens to take special precautions during bad weather: Stay away from trees and poles: Never stand under any big or old tree, electric poles, transformers or weak hoardings during strong thunderstorms and rains. Take safe shelter in case of lightning: Leave the open field, field, pond or river bank immediately and take shelter under a solid house or roof. If in a vehicle, stay inside the vehicle with the windows closed. Stop using electronic devices: Unplug sensitive electrical appliances (TV, refrigerator, computer) when indoors and avoid using landline phones. Helpline Number: In case of any untoward incident, waterlogging or problem related to power supply, immediately contact the emergency numbers 1912 of the Electricity Department and District Disaster Control Room. According to the Meteorological Department, from October 9 onwards, the weather will gradually start becoming dry in most parts of Uttar Pradesh and the sky will become clear.
