Lakhimpur Kheri. Road and development works started in Sisaiya Khurd village of Dhaurahra Kotwali area. The controversy has now reached its peak regarding police action. The villagers allege that after raising slogans of “No road, no vote” and protesting against the Dhaurahara MLA and the village head, the police reached the village and entered the houses and beat up men, women, elderly and children.
According to local reports, around 16 villagers were injured in the incident and were taken to CHC for treatment. The villagers alleged that the police action was taken at the behest of the MLA. However, MLA Vinod Shankar Awasthi rejected these allegations and called it a conspiracy.
After investigation, the Superintendent of Police suspended five policemen posted at Dhaurahara police station. The departmental investigation has been handed over to the Additional Superintendent of Police. After this, Inspector Dinesh Kumar Sharma, in-charge of Dhaurahara was also put on the line on Friday.
