UPSC Exam Centers: UPSC added 3 new centers for Prelims exam; There will be less crowd in Kanpur, Meerut and Bhubaneswar

Delhi. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday said that more than 23,000 civil service candidates have opted for the three new examination centers created with the aim of reducing congestion at the examination centres. The Commission said that after the creation of new centers in Bhubaneswar, Kanpur and Meerut, the total number of examination centers for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination has increased from 80 to 83.

“Approximately 23,000 candidates have applied for these new centres, thereby reducing the number of candidates at nearby centers for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2026,” UPSC said in a statement. The Civil Services Examination is conducted every year by UPSC in three stages — preliminary, main and personality test — for recruitment to other central services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). This year’s Civil Services (Preliminary) examination is scheduled to be held on Sunday.

The Commission said that a total of 8,19,372 applications have been received for the preliminary examination. UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar said that the aim of this initiative is to make the examination process more convenient and accessible for the candidates. “The purpose of adding three new centers is to reduce congestion and provide better facilities to the candidates,” Kumar said. He said that the Commission has also ensured that the disabled candidates get the examination center of their choice.
