It may now become more difficult for Indian IT professionals working in America to get a green card. Donald Trump administration has decided to stop PERM applications related to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Cognizant, Microsoft, Adobe and Capgemini. PERM is an important step in the US green card process, through which companies move towards granting permanent residence to their foreign employees.
The US Labor Department alleges that these companies violated rules in the process of hiring foreign employees. However, this action in itself does not cancel the employees’ existing H-1B visas.
