Usher has finally reacted to viral clone rumours after fans speculated that he had enlisted a lookalike or body double to perform in his place at recent shows.
The 47-year-old American singer-songwriter addressed the internet’s latest conspiracy after fans claimed he had hired a lookalike to perform during his Raymond & Brown Tour with Chris Brown.
Usher seemingly poked fun at the speculation in a video shared by the official R&B Tour account on Sunday, August 9. Alongside footage of him performing onstage, the post featured a screenshot of his Instagram comments addressing the allegations.
“Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??” he wrote, dismissing the bizarre allegations.
In a separate comment, the Yeah! hitmaker added, “How ya’ll come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”
What fuelled Usher’s clone theory?
The clone speculation intensified after clips of Usher performing at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Friday, August 7, circulated widely online, with fans insisting he looked different.
Among the viral reactions was an X post that surpassed 4 million views, with the user writing, “Usher you can’t fool New York that’s not you bro i want my money back.”
Another remarked, “Usher, why’d you have to play us all like that last night??”
“Usher really sent out his doppelganger,” a third noted.
The clone theory came just days after Usher took the internet by storm for removing a female fan from the stage when she appeared uninterested in his performance.
