Bhopal. The protest of traders of Madhya Pradesh regarding digital payments has come into discussion. Traders of the state expressed their displeasure through 'No UPI Day' and at many places customers were appealed to pay in cash instead of digital payment. Activities like covering up QR codes also came to light during the protests.
According to the report, the focus of the protest is the issue of the proposed 0.4 percent fee on UPI transactions. Traders say that the additional cost on digital payments may impact small shopkeepers and businessmen. This symbolic protest was carried out to raise this issue prominently.
UPI has become an important medium for everyday transactions in India. A large number of merchants, from grocery stores to small businesses, accept QR-based payments. In such a situation, the issue of fees related to payment is directly related to millions of merchants and customers.
