Explainer On Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: The final match of Duleep Trophy 2026 is going to be played between East Zone and South Zone from 6th October. This match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, in which many big names will be seen playing. Once again all eyes will be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi. But, meanwhile, news is coming out from the reports that Vaibhav will not be a part of the Duleep Trophy final. Not only Vaibhav, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma will also not be seen playing in the final match of the tournament. So let us tell you about the reason here, knowing which you will understand that if the team management is taking such a decision, then why is it taking it?
Duleep Trophy final will start from 6th September
In the first semi-final match of Duleep Trophy 2026, East Zone defeated Central Zone by 4 wickets and qualified for the final. So, in the second match, South Zone defeated North Zone by 7 wickets and secured a place in the finals. Now the final match between East Zone and South Zone will be played from 6th September. Only after this match to be held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, it will be known which team won the title of the tournament.
Why doubt on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s play?
It is being discussed in the corridors of cricket that Vaibhav Suryavanshi will not be a part of the final of Duleep Trophy 2026. In such a situation, the question arises that why would Vaibhav, who was performing so well in the semi-finals, be thrown out?
Actually, the final match of Duleep Trophy will be played between 6th September and 10th September. Immediately after this, T20 series is to be played between India and Afghanistan from 13 September to 17 September. All these three players are part of the Indian squad selected for this series. In such a situation, there is not much time between the end of the final and the start of the T20 series. Apart from this, after the end of the T20 series, the Indian team will go to Japan for the Asian Games. From this it is clear that Vaibhav Suryavanshi does not have much chance to take a break and keep himself fresh. In view of the continuously increasing cases of injuries among the players of Team India, concerns about rest, rehabilitation and workload are being expressed.
There is suspense even on the play of Ishaan and Tilak
Not only Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but there is also suspense on the play of Ishaan Kishan and Tilak Verma. Along with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ishaan Kishan and Tilak Verma are also included in the T-20 series played with Afghanistan. Then he is also a part of the team selected for the Asian Games. In such a situation, both these players will not get a chance to keep themselves fresh like Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

In the first innings, he played a brilliant inning of 92 runs in 81 balls, in which he hit 7 fours and 7 sixes. Even though he missed out on scoring a century, by scoring a half-century in that match, Vaibhav became the youngest cricketer to score a half-century in the Duleep Trophy.
