How to worship Vat Savitri fast

  • A fasting woman should wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath and wear clean, red or yellow colored clothes.
  • Clean the banyan tree under which the puja is to be performed and spread the puja seat.
  • Install the idol or picture of Savitri and Satyavan at the place of worship.
  • Offer water to the root of the banyan tree, then offer sandalwood, turmeric, roli, akshat and flowers.
  • Wrap a red cotton thread around the banyan tree and circumambulate it seven times and pray for the long life of your husband in each circumambulation.
  • Make up items like vermilion, kumkum, bindi, bangles and mehendi etc. should be offered.
  • Recite or listen to the Vrat Katha with all your heart. This is the main part of this fast.
  • after puja Banyan tree and Savitri-Satyavan Perform aarti and pray with folded hands.
  • After the puja, donate fruits, clothes, sweets or money to Brahmins or the needy. This completes the fast.
  • Break the fast the next morning after sunrise by having fruits or light food.
