Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s performance in IPL 2026 was no less than a dream. This young batsman from Bihar surprised the cricket world with his aggressive play throughout the season. Vaibhav officially became the Orange Cap winner after Gujarat Titans’ Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan were dismissed early in the final.
By winning the Orange Cap at the age of just 15 years and 65 days, he created a new record in IPL history. Earlier, the record for achieving this feat at the youngest age was in the name of Sai Sudarshan, who won the Orange Cap in 2025 at the age of 23 years and 231 days. Before that this record was in the name of Shubman Gill.

Vaibhav scored 776 runs in 16 matches this season and his strike rate was 237.31, which is considered extraordinary for any batsman. He hit 72 sixes in the entire tournament and also broke Chris Gayle’s record in this matter. Gayle had hit 59 sixes in an IPL season, which was considered unbroken for a long time.
Interestingly, Vaibhav had come very close to equaling Virat Kohli’s record of scoring four centuries in a season. He became a victim of the nervous nineties three times. He scored 93 against Lucknow Super Giants, 97 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator and 96 against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier-2. Apart from this, he also scored a brilliant century.
Vaibhav made another big record in his name. He completed 1000 T20/IPL runs in just 440 balls, one of the fastest achievements in the format. In this matter, he even left behind West Indies’ explosive batsman Andre Russell. The advice received from a great player like Virat Kohli and his record-breaking performance have made it clear that Indian cricket has got a big star of the future.
