The total wealth of Vietnam’s billionaires, however, remains largely unchanged, thanks to the rising fortune of the richest man in Southeast Asia, Pham Nhat Vuong.
Vietnam’s seven billionaires now have a combined wealth of $54.4 billion, compared with $54.6 billion at the end of August.
The wealth pool remained steady as Vuong’s net worth increased by $800 million over the past two weeks to $37.4 billion, ranking him 60th globally.
In the same period, his wife Pham Thu Huong, the second-richest person in Vietnam, saw net worth rise $100 million to $4.2 billion.
Her sister Pham Thuy Hang’s wealth also added $100 million to $3 billion. Both of them are deputy chairwomen of Vingroup, the largest company in Vietnam controlled by Vuong.
Tran Dinh Long, chairman of steel producer Hoa Phat Group, and Ho Hung Anh, chairman of Techcombank, each saw their fortunes decline by $100 million, to $2.4 billion and $2.2 billion, respectively.
Ngo Chi Dung, chairman of VPBank, saw his wealth unchanged at $1.2 billion.
