Vietnamese airlines win top Asian honors at World Travel Awards

Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Vietravel Airlines won top continental titles at the 2026 World Travel Awards, highlighting the growing presence of Vietnamese carriers in Asia’s aviation and tourism market.

Vietnam Airlines took three awards at the regional ceremony: Asia’s Leading Airline – Customer Experience, Premium Economy Class, and Frequent Flyer Programme for its Lotusmiles loyalty program.

Vietjet Air was named Asia’s Leading Airline Brand, while Vietravel Airlines won Asia’s Leading Leisure Airline title.

The awards were announced Sept. 27 at the World Travel Awards ceremony for Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean held in the Maldives.

The three carriers’ wins were part of a wider list of accolades for Vietnam’s tourism industry at this year’s awards.

Vietnam retained the title of Asia’s Leading Destination for a sixth consecutive year, while several of its destinations, hotels, resorts, and tourism businesses also won in multiple categories.

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are recognized globally as a benchmark for excellence in travel and tourism.

The awards come as Vietnam’s tourism industry continues to grow.

It received 15.9 million international visitors in the first eight months of 2026, up 14.4% year on year, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
