In view of the change of power in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the deployment of central forces in all government offices, including the current state secretariat Nabanna. On Monday, officials said that this step is being taken to protect government documents.
Election Commission took steps to protect government documents
CRPF teams were deployed in several government offices in the state in the afternoon to prevent destruction of government documents, officials said. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) were deployed at State Secretariat Nabanna, Writers Building, Vikas Bhawan, Jal Sampad Bhawan and Khado Bhawan. Its purpose is to protect all government documents.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had made many allegations of corruption against the Trinamool Congress government during the election campaign in the state. He had repeatedly warned that all files would be opened if BJP came to power. It is believed that this initiative has been taken for the security of all the documents.

At present, Nabanna, located on Sharat Chatterjee Road, Mandirtala, Howrah, is the main administrative building of the state government, where the Chief Minister’s office is located. The Writers’ Building was the official secretariat building during the Left Front regime. There is speculation that BJP may give importance to Writers Building. For this purpose, plans for the restoration of these buildings have already been made.
