‘War against gangsters’ intensifies in Punjab, raids at 566 places, hundreds arrested
Punjab News: On Tuesday, the 84th day of the ‘Campaign against Gangsters’ being run on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Police conducted 566 raids on identified locations linked to gangsters across the state.
According to the information, the “War against Gangsters” campaign was started by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Under this campaign, police teams of all the districts are continuously taking action in collaboration with Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
311 arrested on 84th day
On the 84th day of the campaign, the police arrested 311 people. A total of 21,154 arrests have been made since the start of this campaign.
Apart from this, the police took preventive action against 92 people and recovered six weapons from them. At the same time, 126 people were released after investigation. During this time the police also arrested two declared criminals (PO).
Campaign against drugs and crime intensifies
Police have appealed to the people that they can anonymously share information related to gangsters or crime on the anti-gangster helpline number 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the “War Against Drugs” campaign continued on its 409th day. On Tuesday, 126 drug smugglers were arrested from whom 1.4 kg heroin, 5.4 kg opium, 69 kg poppy, 558 intoxicating pills/capsules and drug money worth Rs 4.91 lakh were recovered.
So far, a total of 58,829 drug smugglers have been arrested under this campaign. Also, 25 people have been motivated for treatment and rehabilitation under drug de-addiction.
