Tezzbuzz Desk- The incidence of mosquitoes increases during the rainy season. Water accumulated in small places around the house can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. In particular, Aedes mosquito can breed even in small containers with clean and stagnant water. Therefore, to protect against mosquitoes, it is not enough to just clean the rooms of the house, but the balcony, terrace, garden and the areas around the house should also be checked regularly.
Water often accumulates in the plates kept under the pots of plants in the house. Water may stagnate in these plates after rain or after watering the plants. Therefore, empty and clean them regularly. Do not let the water kept in the vase remain stagnant for a long time and keep changing it from time to time.
Empty buckets, cans, bottles and other containers kept on balconies and rooftops can also collect rainwater. Either remove such items or keep them upside down, so that water does not accumulate in them. Also regularly check the junk and useless items kept on the roof.
Pay special attention to cooler and water tank
Water stored in the cooler for a long time can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Therefore, clean the cooler regularly and do not let water accumulate for a long time. Always keep the water tank and other storage containers of the house well covered, so that mosquitoes cannot enter them. Rainwater can also accumulate in old tyres, broken pots, plastic boxes and other junk. Do not keep such things collected around the house and if any item is not necessary then remove it.
Cleaning of drains and gutters is necessary
Accumulation of leaves, soil or debris in roof drains and gutters can prevent water drainage. When water stagnates, the possibility of mosquitoes breeding there increases. So keep cleaning the drains and gutters regularly and ensure that rain water can drain easily.
Check around the house every week
To prevent mosquitoes, check the standing water in and around the house at least once a week. Be sure to check the pots, buckets, coolers, vases, water containers and the items kept on the roof.
Keep water tanks and other storage containers covered. Installing mosquito nets on windows and doors can also help in reducing the entry of mosquitoes inside the house.
Along with maintaining cleanliness around the house, also keep in mind that water should not remain stagnant in any container for several days. If it is not possible to prevent water accumulation at any place, then adopt mosquito control measures as advised by the local health department.
