Water level of Ganga-Yamuna increased, water reached residential areas, red alert issued

Prayagraj Flood: Due to continuous rise in the water level of Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj, the flood crisis is deepening. Both the rivers are in spate in Sangam city and now the flood water has spread beyond the river bank areas and has reached the residential areas. With the rising water level, the problems of the local people are also increasing.

Due to the rising waters of Ganga and Yamuna, many major ghats of Prayagraj have been completely submerged. The ghats where movement of devotees and people were visible till some time ago, now only water is visible.

Ganga River Front Road also submerged

Flood water has reached the Ganga River Front Road going from Bakshibandh to Sangam. The entire road is submerged in water. Due to this, traffic on this route has been affected and people are facing problems in commuting.

In many areas situated on the banks of the river, due to water reaching the houses, people are facing the challenge of moving to a safe place. After the arrival of water in the houses, problems regarding daily needs have also increased. Many families are busy taking their belongings to safe places, while some people are moving towards higher and safer places.

Administration issued red alert

In view of the worsening situation in Prayagraj, the administration has issued a red alert. Keeping in view the possible danger, relief posts and relief camps have been prepared, so that if needed, immediate help can be provided to the affected people.

Administration and relief teams are continuously monitoring the situation. The changes in the water level of Ganga and Yamuna are being monitored. At present, the rising water of both the rivers has increased the concern of flood in Sangam city and the situation is being monitored in the coming hours.
